History
The Andhra Pradesh Auxiliary came into being in 1951, just a year after the State of Andhra Pradesh was formed. Prior to that during the rule of Nizam a book depot of the Tamil Nadu(Madras) Auxiliary was in operation in Secunderabad since 1939. The existing Bible House in Telangana had been in operation since 1938 also was the headquarters of the Auxiliary since 1951. The Auxiliary celebrated the centenary of the complete Telugu Bible in the year 1960.

The Bicentenary Celebrations of BSI was held at Guntur from February 19th to 21st 2011. All the 15 Auxiliaries represented by its Auxiliary Secretaries and Executive Committee Members and leaders from United Bible Societies took part. All the Branch Officers of Andhra Pradesh Auxiliary took part and lakhs of people attended evening meetings. International famous Evangelist Dr. T. L. Osborn took part and delivered God’s Word. These Celebrations were held under the leadership of Dr. Mrs. Navamani E. Peter, President, BSI, Rev. Dr. P. N. S. Chandra Bose, Vice President, BSI & President, AP Auxiliary, Mr. Noel Swaranjit Sen, Chairman, Celebrations Committee, Dr. Mrs. P. Leela Bose, President, AP State Mary Jones Fellowship, Dr. M. Jesudas, General Secretary In-Charge, BSI and Rev. Dr. N.L. Victor, Auxiliary Secretary, AP Auxiliary.


Bifurcation of AP Auxiliary

After the decision of the UPA (Union) Government to bifurcate the State of Andhra Pradesh, the Union Cabinet on February 07, 2014 had cleared the bill for the creation of Telangana State. While the process of bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh was underway by the UPA Government, the Working Committee of the BSI had resolved to make a study for the feasibility of carving an Auxiliary for Telangana State.

Subsequently a Bifurcation Committee and Local Sub Committee for bifurcation were formed and recommendations were made to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh Auxiliary and carve Telangana Auxiliary to operate from Secunderabad and the residuary Andhra Pradesh Auxiliary to function from Guntur.

The Executive Committee at its meeting held on September 18, 2014 and later on September 09, 2015 considered the recommendations of the above Committees and the modalities worked out by them, has resolved to place the proposal to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh Auxiliary before the Central Council.

The proposal for the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh Auxiliary was presented to the Central Council at its meeting held on January 28 & 29, 2016 and the Council has unanimously approved the same. It was resolved to inaugurate Andhra Pradesh Auxiliary with its headquarters at Guntur on February 01, 2016 and Telangana Auxiliary with its headquarters at Secunderabad on February 03, 2016 and both the Auxiliaries were inaugurated accordingly.
Projects And Programs :
Through the length and breadth of the State, over 150 BSI Branches and Mary Jones Fellowships operate with individual office bearers and members who voluntarily raise substantial amount of contributions every year for the cause of the Bible. Over the years the Auxiliary has proved to be one of the leading arms of the Bible Society Movement in India in distribution of Scriptures to Telugu speaking people. Under this Auxiliary audio scripture portions and also the New Testament in Lambadi were produced. NT in Banjara language and Children Bible in Yerukula language were also released and OT translation in Banjara is in process.
